Health & Safety

Our office strictly meets or exceeds the safety and sterilization guidelines recommended by the American Dental Association, California Dental Board and OSHA. We constantly upgrade our infection control techniques by attending frequent courses and holding regular staff meetings so as to insure your safety and peace of mind. Some of the techniques we employ include:

  • Wearing gloves, masks, and protective eyewear during each patient examination and treatment
  • Sterilizing all instruments placed intra-orally in an autoclave and ultrasonic cleaner for germ free use
  • Cleaning and sanitizing each exam room fixture following each patient visit to eliminate bacteria and its development
  • Consistently using a contracted sterilization monitoring service to ensure the effectiveness of equipment
  • Utilizing safety techniques to prevent cross-contamination by properly disposing of all products that are unable to be sterilized
  • Sterilization of all dental hand-pieces
  • Covering patient chairs, x-ray units, and light handles with disposable plastic wraps
  • Using filtered, bottled water supplied to dental hand-pieces and air/water syringes

Crowns and more…  in one visit with CEREC® Technology

Why wait? Smile Magic is equipped with a CEREC® milling machine that enables us to complete and bond crowns, veneers and other tooth restorations in one appointment. We bring the dental laboratory in-house so you have the ultimate in convenience.

Here’s a snapshot of how this state-of-the art CAD/CAM system works:

  • We take a digital picture of the tooth to be replaced/restored
  • The CEREC computer processes the exact dimensions
  • The dimensions are fed into the CEREC milling machine, which creates an exact replica in just a few minutes
  • We test-fit, make color adjustments as needed and bond the restoration in place

Making your life a little easier… definitely something to smile about.

Computer Imaging

Computer imaging can be used to show you what cosmetic dentistry could do for your smile. At Smile Magic Dentistry we provide this as a complimentary service for all patients who desire it.

The office will take a simple digital photograph of your face. They download this into the computer, and then use a cosmetic dentistry computer imaging program to place the smile style of your choice with your face. Then they print out a copy of this photograph for you. Why not try this for your smile? It’s fun, educational, and there is no fee.

With cosmetic dentistry, you can have the smile you want. Using a combination of bleaching, bonding, porcelain veneers, and rapid minor orthodontic tooth movement, your teeth can be re-shaped and re-colored with a great deal of artistic latitude.

Intra-Oral Cam

intra oral cameraIf you’ve ever wondered what your dentist sees when examining your teeth, a new device called the intra oral camera can be used. An intra – oral camera is essentially a small television camera fitted onto a pen-sized wand. By placing the device inside your mouth, we can explore and record images 40 times larger than the actual size.

The camera is connected to a video monitor that stores and displays the digital photos as a visual record. Dr. Nazir uses this device to help diagnose a patient’s oral health status. We’ve also discovered that patients understand their oral health status better after viewing their mouth close – up!

Digital X-Rays

Our dental digital X-ray system can take a picture of your teeth, then almost immediately show it to you on a computer monitor. You no longer have to sit there for fifteen minutes and wait for X-ray film to develop. Your on-screen picture will look like any typical dental X-ray image but much bigger. One of the advantages to having a digital x-ray is that it allows us to zoom in on a single tooth, rotate it, sharpen it and colorize it – thereby giving Dr. Nazir access to important information about how to create your smile design.

It operates much like a traditional x-ray system. We place a small, flat sensor in your mouth. The sensor is connected to a computer by a thin wire. Next, an X-ray beam is sent through your teeth and into the sensor, which records the image of your teeth and sends it to the computer. The sensor can then be repositioned to photograph other sections of your teeth.

There are a number of reasons why it’s better to use digital x-rays. Because the dental Digital X-ray system is more sensitive than dental X-ray film systems, your exposure to X rays is cut as much as 90 percent. The large and color-enhanced images let you see what your dentist sees, so it’s easier for you to understand how your dentist will treat your teeth. It’s also better for the environment because we don’t create excess waste due to used photo chemicals and film.
