We offer a range of conscious sedation methods in order to match your needs

IV Sedation Dentistry

The sedative used provides deep relaxation. Applied intravenously, the sedative takes effect immediately, and we can administer more medication throughout treatment as needed to deepen the effect. The amnesia effect is virtually total so that there is no memory of treatment.

Dr. Nazir has the highly specialized training, experience and state certification required for IV Sedation.

Sedation Dentistry

When is IV Sedation the best option?
When patients:

  • Have fear or anxiety about dental treatment
  • Need extensive treatment in one extended treatment session
  • Want little or no memory of the dental treatment
  • Want enhanced effectiveness of Novocaine or other numbing medications
  • Have physical or mental disabilities (such as Down’s syndrome, Parkinson’s disease or Alzheimer’s disease)

Oral Conscious Sedation Dentistry

In this method, the patient takes a pill orally. The relaxed state helps a person lose focus of external surroundings. The effect lasts about one to two hours.

When is Oral Sedation the best option?

When patients want all the benefits of IV Sedation, but prefer taking a pill, or when they have a fear of needles. Or they want only a milder level of sedation to overcome their anxiety.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation Dentistry

Commonly known as laughing gas, the sedative nitrous oxide is gas that patients breathe through their nose during treatment—the amount received is easily adjusted. It is the lightest of our sedation options and provides a mild euphoric feeling. Most patients will have some memory of their dental session.

When is Nitrous Oxide Sedation the best option?

It is a great choice for patients who:

  • Have milder levels of anxiety about dental treatment
  • Are not concerned about retaining some memory of their dental session
  • Are having shorter, routine procedures
  • Have none or only mild mental or physical conditions that require deeper sedation
  • Want enhanced effectiveness of Novocaine or other numbing medications
