It is not easy to have one dentist for over 40 years, and then find out that he is retiring. This is especially true when the dentist I had, was a competitor, friend and team mate during my college years. It’s hard to believe that more than 40 years went by so quickly. Never-the-less, they did.
I had the pleasure of being a neighbor of Dr. Rai, Saira, and Iman’s almost 20 years ago. It was always in the back of my mind, that if my dentist ever decided to hang it up, I would look up Raihan, whom I call Ray.
The time came, and I made the interview appointment. Dr. Nazir has a very good memory, almost as good as his wife’s, and welcomed me into his office, as if I were a neighbor. He has a beautiful office. It is decorated as if it is a home away from home. It only takes me about 5 minutes to drive to his office. I really enjoyed meeting the staff, and found everyone to be quite helpful.
In my initial exam, Dr. Nazir did a full survey of my dental situation. After my teeth cleaning, he examined all my teeth, and clearly showed me, using his camera and image monitor, all the things that he felt were problems, or potential problems. I was grateful to have this overview. In addition, I felt like I wanted to tell Dr. Nazir about my dental preferences, you know, I wanted to let him know what I was accustomed to in my dental care. I felt that he carefully listened and considered my requests.
I let him know that I have always looked forward to going to the dentist. It wasn’t necessarily the dental procedures I looked forward to, as much as it was the friendly environment at the dental office. It was always like going to visit family and friends.
I also want to thank Dr. Nazir for giving a complimentary exam, including X-rays, to a friend of mine, who is a relatively new immigrant, that has little financial resources. His charitable spirit is touching and is a foundational principle of any great society. I believe that God calls us to share with others, the gifts He has given to us. Dr. Nazir certainly demonstrated this to my foreign friend, and in doing so, did a little of God’s work, in this earthly realm.
So in closing, I want to thank you for your hard work in bringing “Smile Magic” to our community. I am so happy that I have such a friendly, new dental family, just up the road.
